Exploring Dental Tool Improvements

Hi, it's Mia Armonde here to talk to you about family dentistry. As my small family grew into a large one, I found myself at the dental office on a regular basis. Every six months, the kids would go into the dentist for a cleaning or repairs to their teeth. During that time, I took an interest in the various ways the dental tools were evolving. Tools used in the dental industry have grown in leaps and bounds in the last few decades. For example, my kids went from hearing the dental drill to wearing headphones that completely canceled out the sound. Each time we go back into the dentist, I take a close look at the improvements that have arisen since the last visit. The results are astounding. I will cover my findings on this site, so you can also enjoy the improvements to dental tools and techniques.

4 Pieces Of Dental Advice You Weren't Expecting

Most people know that taking care of your teeth is vital to ensuring that you are able to retain your natural teeth for a lifetime. However, many people are more concerned about how their teeth appear when they smile and talk to people. There is reason for this, since your smile gives off people's very first impression of you. Here are four pieces of dental advice you weren't expecting, though:

  1. Your Dental Work at Home is More Important: Many people believe that all they can do at home is brush their teeth in order to keep their teeth as healthy as possible while the rest of the important stuff comes when you visit your dentist. However, this is not the case. The best way to avoid all kinds of dental problems is by brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing once per day, and rinsing your mouth after every meal. Doing this will not only prevent dental health problems, but can also help keep your teeth white.
  2. Aligned Teeth are More Important Than Straight Teeth: Perfect tooth alignment is definitely more important than having perfectly straight teeth. Sometimes, your teeth may not appear to be completely straight even though they are properly aligned. The reason this is more important is because it is going to keep your jaw bone strong. A weak jaw bone won't be able to support your teeth, which can lead to a higher chance of decay and teeth becoming loose and more prone to falling out. You will also be able to chew your food properly and talk properly with aligned teeth, as well.
  3. Let Your Dentist Poke Your Teeth: When your dentist goes in to poke around at your teeth, you probably cringe and become really irritated. However, this is important and you should let your dentist do it without any distractions. This is because your dentist is looking for signs of gum disease, which affects many people every year. If you don't let your dentist poke around, it will be harder to catch and treat early signs of gum disease.
  4. Don't Whiten Your Teeth so Often: If you are unhappy with the color of your teeth, you can visit a dentist for teeth whitening, but it's important that you don't over do this. Combining professional teeth whitening with at home whitening, for example, is not good for your teeth. This can ruin the enamel of the teeth, which causes them to become weak and brittle.
